OFF WITH THE FOAM

Ok. I was supposed to go to the dr. mon morning. He called and canceled until 5pm yesterday. I went in very excited about getting the foam and staples out. I dosed up on oxy's and percoset. I was ready. Well then the torture started. I had most of the staples removed and the foam had to be cut from my skin in some spots. I guess my skin was actually growing into the foam. So after a bout of "cold sweat" and almost vomiting we tried to continue the staple removal. Well, I have 50 staples still in and he pulled 75 out. So I have to go back wed. for the rest to be removed. I might have to be lightly sedated. IT SUCKS! On the upside he said the graphs look great so far and my donor site is looking good. Still hurts like a bitch, but looks good. I slept a little better than I have been. The foam being off lets me move a little more. Still having really vivid, wicked dreams. Don't know if its the meds, or my head. Patty has been great taking care of me. My family and everyone have been awesome. Thank you everybody for the kind words and offers for help. I will let you know how the staples go tomorrow. Talk to you soon.

Home at Last

On Friday, Jason finally made it home! While he thought it would be wonderful to sleep in his own bed, he quickly found he couldn't sleep at all. Patty says he is really feeling the pain in his leg (d0n0r site). He is just all around sore, and can't get comfortable. Yet, he still has his great sense of humor. He returns to the doctor tom. to see if the skin graph took. The girls and Patty are delighted to have him home. Patty and Jason again thank everyone for all of their support and report that they have plenty of help over the next few weeks.

In the meantime, Jason has already been entertaining at home. In case you missed his big debut, click below to see Jason and family as his story was aired on Saturday on NBC 2 at 11:00 pm:

Hey all, thanks for all the support and prayers. It is amazing how much everyone has offered and already given. I will see the Dr. in the morning and he should let me go home tomorrow. He will not take off the skin graft dressings until tues, so I will still be on lock down. I will update when I know more. Now it time for bed. Thanks again for everything.

Home bound Update

Last night was a rough night for Jason! Finding a comfortable position or a solid body part to lie on wasn't easy. However, Patty reports he is in good spirits. His white blood cell count was very high and he seems to be healing well. There is talk of him going home on Friday. Maddie, Sydney and Riley were delighted to hear the news and to be able to help care for their Dad. They have all been so strong and supportive for their Dad. What great kids!

Please keep Patty in your prayers as she tries to juggle work, the kids and caring for Jason. She so appreciates all of the offers of help and support. She promises to keep everyone posted via the website as to what help she may need when Jason gets home.

Thanks to those who have already posted!

Surgery Update II

On Sept 23rd, Jason underwent his second surgery. The doctors were able to successfully graph skin to his back from the donor site on the back of his thigh. He has limited movement as to not not tear or rupture the staples. As you can imagine, he is in great pain. Let's keep his mind occupied with thoughts, prayers, jokes, and of course we all want to know how his fantasy football picks are doing. Come on Caesar, he's counting on you!

Surgery Update

On Sept 22, Jason had surgery to remove the burns on his right side. The doctors were successful in removing the burn and closing the wound. They also debrided the burn on his back. He will undergo surgery again tom. to remove more of the burn on his back and begin the necessary skin graphs. Jason and Patty remain in great spirits and are so grateful for the wonderful support system in place. Jason seemed most worried about his fantasy football picks.

Patty was grateful for Greg DeWitt's visit so that she could thank him for being so calm the night of the accident. Both Jason and Patty asked that family and friends keep the children caught in the fire in their thoughts and prayers.

Check back later for pictures and updates, and of course to see how Jason's picks are doing!
